If you have a business that does not require your presence, then have you considered changing location? Being able to move around and travel is a dream all of us have. Most of the time it is only freelancers that are able to take advantage of the freedom to work from anywhere. However, these days there are plenty of ways to operate even physical businesses from overseas.
Business owners that are able to delegate tasks to their managers and team leaders can pretty much leave their business to run on autopilot. From overseas, all a business owner needs to see is the accounts, jobs being completed, and performance records. Usually, the larger the business is the easier it is to keep track of the business as the owner. This is because the HR team can report on staff performance, managers can deliver statistic reports, and accountants deal with finances.
Some people are fearful of managing their business via a laptop. First of all, you need to make sure you have a good laptop and a backup system.
The backup system would usually be a computer in the office that is permanently switched on or one that you can ask employees to switch on upon request. If your laptop decides to play up or should you lose it, then you can use a remote desktop connection via a pre-configured Google account and remote into the machine as if you were physically sat at your office computer.
Other concerns people have about being overseas is the speed of the internet. Obviously, this entirely depends on where you go. There are plenty of destinations around the world to choose from that are still next to a tropical beach with high-speed internet. In fact, South East Asia is now one of the go-to places for freelancers and business owners able to run their business from overseas.
What about creature comforts while abroad? Well, you can easily get your usual Netflix Americana while abroad, HBO, and local satellite or cable channels as long as you have set up an account that can be used while on the move. To get around any geo-restrictions, all you would need to do is use a service that connects to your local country, so you can then access these services as if you were physically in your own country.
Alternatively, you would still be able use your remote desktop connection if you have that machine permanently switched on. However, if the machine is turned off at night, then you can use Netflix EUA. This is the perfect solution to getting around website restrictions or local country restrictions because the VPN allows a secure outgoing connection that will bypass any proxy servers blocking your path.
